1. What does your business do/sell?
We sell a variety of gifts, stationary and plants with options for men, women and children. We have our own jewelry line called Plume. Many of the items we carry are from local artists. All of the terrariums are made in house.
2. What inspired you to start your business?
I had my own jewelry line for six years and have a passion for design. It has always been a dream of mine to open a gift store. Once my youngest son started kindergarten, I knew the time was right to open a business. With the help of my sister, I made the leap.
3. When did you open in Beaumont Village, and why?
This is the neighborhood I grew up in. I worked at Amalfi’s throughout high school and college. This area is home. I opened in August of 2012 during Fremont Fest. I had two weeks to meet my goal of opening by Fremont Fest. With the help of friends and family, I was able to open on time.
4. What makes your business unique?
I work really hard to find the most unique items as possible. I spend my nights looking for new artists that other stores might not have. I love the thrill of the hunt. This is what keeps things exciting for me. That feeling you get when you find a great artist that hasn’t had a presence in Portland yet. We offer a hands-on, personable experience. I truly love my customers. They have become a second family to me.
5. What is the most interesting thing you’ve done in your life?
After my wedding I backpacked through Europe. We ended up visiting four countries in a month. We didn’t have a lot of money so we stayed in hostels and took trains everywhere. I think that is what made this experience so exciting. I’m so happy that I took this trip before having a career and children.
